Description
Freddy Powers’ CD “My Great Escape” recorded on Hag Records. Produced by Merle Haggard and Freddy features Freddy and Merle duets including “Ol’ Country Singer” and the tale of Freddy and Merle as told and written by Freddy, “Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn”. Recorded by Lou Bradley with featured guitarist Django Porter, a new comer to Freddy’s recordings and a perfect fit to his style of music. Freddy’s name appears on many of his longtime friend Merle Haggard’s albums from songwriter, musician, background vocals to producer and now Merle has returned the favor by doing the same for Freddy’s release.
FREDDY POWERS / My Great Escape: Every once in a great while an artist releases an album that simply defies description. Freddy Powers’ latest release “My Great Escape” fits this category of the elite few that are truly master craftsmen and true country balladeers. To pass on purchasing the CD at www.freddypowers.com you would be denying yourself ear candy. I listened to this CD about three in the morning and was so gleefully delighted at what I was hearing that, although not much of a drinker, felt compelled to toast Freddy’s brilliance by a toast of a shot of Jack Daniels. Please do yourself a favor and let Freddy take you to a different place and time. Merle Haggard must receive credit for doing a fine job as producer. The CD is a product of Merle’s new label Hag Records.
This session was recored at Merle Haggard’s studio in Redding, California.
